Stanhope Mews East is a redeveloped mews street in South Kensington, SW7, running between Cromwell Road and Stanhope Place within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The mews is approached through its own entrance arch on Cromwell Road, opposite Queen’s Gate Place Mews, and was originally built to provide stable and coach-house accommodation for the larger properties on Queen’s Gate and Stanhope Gardens. Today, the buildings are predominantly residential, with restored traditional mews houses standing alongside a contrasting row of 1970s flats. One particularly interesting feature is a house partway along the mews that appears to have two front doors, adding an unusual detail to the street’s varied architecture.

Stanhope Mews East is exceptionally well placed for the amenities and attractions of South Kensington and Gloucester Road, with both Underground stations within convenient walking distance. The area is renowned for its museums, including the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and Science Museum, while the boutiques, cafés and restaurants of South Kensington and Gloucester Road are close by. Harrods, Knightsbridge and Hyde Park are also within easy reach, while the surrounding area offers an excellent choice of schools, including the Lycée Français.
