Rutland Mews East, Knightsbridge, London, SW7
Rutland Mews East is a tiny and secluded residential mews in the heart of Knightsbridge, tucked away off Ennismore Street. This part-paved cul-de-sac contains just two residential properties, giving it an unusually private and intimate character. Despite its small scale, Rutland Mews East has an interesting history. A plaque records that the boundary wall of the Rutland Estate was destroyed by a bomb on 25 September 1940 during the Second World War. When Westminster City Council rebuilt the wall in 1948, a pedestrian right of way was created at the request of local residents. This passage became known locally as ‘the hole in the wall’, adding a fascinating historical detail to the mews.
The position of Rutland Mews East is particularly attractive, being just south-east of Rutland Gate and within easy reach of Knightsbridge Village, Hyde Park and the area’s extensive range of shops, restaurants and cafés. Harrods and the luxury shopping of Knightsbridge are also close by, while Hyde Park provides a substantial area of open space for walking and recreation. Knightsbridge Underground Station, served by the Piccadilly line, is approximately 0.5 miles away, providing convenient connections to destinations across central London. With only two homes and a discreet location close to some of the capital’s most prestigious amenities, Rutland Mews East is a notably private Knightsbridge address.
