Rainsford Street, Bayswater, London, W2
Rainsford Street is a small and secluded cobbled mews in Tyburnia, W2, tucked away just off Sale Place and within Westminster City Council’s Bayswater Conservation Area. Originally a through road, Rainsford Street was later divided into two separate cul-de-sacs following the construction of the Imperial College Recreation Centre. The mews suffered bomb damage during the Second World War, resulting in the replacement of several buildings with the recreation centre and a row of garages. Today, only a small number of the original mews buildings remain, giving Rainsford Street a distinctive mix of historic residential and commercial properties. Its exceptionally quiet, private character makes it something of a hidden gem in this central London neighbourhood.
The location of Rainsford Street is particularly appealing, with Hyde Park just moments away and Mayfair, Marylebone and Connaught Village all within easy walking distance. Local shops, cafés and restaurants can be found throughout the surrounding area, with further amenities around Paddington Basin. Transport connections are excellent, with Paddington and Edgware Road stations both conveniently close, providing access to multiple Underground lines, National Rail services and the Elizabeth line from Paddington. The nearby Frontline Club and the wider Paddington area add to the variety of amenities available, while the combination of a peaceful cobbled setting and proximity to some of London’s most desirable districts makes Rainsford Street an attractive central London address.
