“Hansard Mews, in 1910. Life early in the century for coachmen and their families in the stables atmosphere of a London Mews was not always agreeable. The days of the mews house as a fashionable residence had not yet arrived, but this view does show a most attractive and well cared for example, each house with window boxes, immaculate paintwork, and neat hay bins. In later years, the yellow London stock brickwork was painted in the rainbow hues of post-war.”
