Chesham Mews, Belgravia, London, SW1X

Chesham Mews is a secure, private cobbled mews in the heart of Belgravia, offering an exceptional residential setting just moments from Motcomb Street, Knightsbridge, Sloane Street and Hyde Park.

Laid out by master builder Thomas Cubitt in the early 1830s as part of the development of the Belgravia estate, Chesham Mews was originally built to provide stabling and coach houses for the surrounding grand residences, including those on Lowndes Street and Belgrave Mews West. The mews takes its name from Chesham in Buckinghamshire, reflecting the historic connections of the Lowndes family, whose estate once occupied the area.

During the Second World War, a high-explosive bomb fell on Chesham Mews, resulting in many of the original buildings being rebuilt. As a consequence, little evidence of its former equestrian use remains. Today, the mews comprises attractive residential properties and, thanks to its exceptional location close to local amenities, Chesham Mews remains one of Belgravia’s most desirable mews addresses.
