EXTRACT FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES – 2 April 2006 Annabel Karmel is the author of books on food for babies and children, she once lived in Albion Close (no 20);
“I have painted the hall bright red,which looked very dramatic. We constructed a new story on top of the house where there had been a large roof garden. We kept some garden, but added a big master bedroom and a shower room. It was a happy home and I loved living there. When our baby Natasha was born in 1987, I had never been so happy. She lived for 13 weeks. She had encephalitis and died in Great Ormond Street Hospital. In the end, we sold the house. Just before we moved I went into labour with my second child. I reach the top of the stairs and felt the baby’s head come out. I gave birth all over the pale lemon carpet in my dressing room. I kept thinking: “we’ve sold the house with curtains and carpets, and I’ve just ruined that one!””
Michael Caine is also known to have lived in the mews.
