A new weekly rota for Portobello’s iconic market?
Portobello Road’s famous antiques market may be subject to future changes if plans proposed by property developer Warren Todd are adopted
Todd, who has owned shops along the street since the 1990s, believes that the street can’t survive on antiques alone and has proposed a radical new rota for the market, to include a farmers’ market and a monthly fair in addition to market days dedicated to antiques and vintage stalls. These proposals have not found favour with traditionalists who want to keep the focus firmly on the antiques trade, but Todd argues that far from destroying the soul of the area, the new plan for market activities will enliven the road, where currently many antiques shops remain closed on weekdays.Improving the market will increase the vibrancy of the area, which is already popular with Lurot Brand’s clients living in the 11 attractive mews streets that surround Portobello. If you’d like to view mews properties in roads close to this iconic market area, call us at Lurot Brand’s Notting Hill office today.
