"Movember" of a Mews House Owner
Ian Thompson, one of our favourite mews owning clients took it upon himself to suffer a month of itchy top lip and nose in the name of charity. He grew this rather fine specimen of a moustache for "Movember" in aid of prostate cancer research.
Our South Kensington office supported Ian by donating £70 to help him in his pursuit of hirsute perfection.
Well done Ian!

Who is Ovarian Cancer Action?
Sadly nearly 7,000 women every year in the UK are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 75% of them are diagnosed in the late stages of the illness. Ovarian cancer is the UK’s biggest gynaecological killer and 12 women every day will die from this nasty disease. Historically sufferers of ovarian cancer have been over 50 years old, but the trend now is for many younger women to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
The UK has the worst Ovarian Cancer survival rates in the western world and it is vital to help fund more scientific research, raise awareness amongst women and healthcare professionals and give survivors a voice. Ovarian Cancer Action has the only dedicated ovarian cancer scientific laboratory in the UK, where 45 scientists work to find an accurate means of diagnosis and treatment for ovarian cancer. The OCA Research Centre is at Imperial Hospital London.
OCA receives no government support and runs entirely on donations and grants. So every penny donated makes a big difference. Currently of every pound given to OCA 82 pence goes to fund the OCA Research Centre.
OCA is a very small charity with a massive job to do. I hope that you can support us.

ST MARY ABBOTS SCHOOL FAIR 2011
We were delighted to sponsor the St Mary Abbots School Fair 2011 which took place at The Paddock, in Kensington Gardens, on Saturday 9th July. Under lovely sunshine, we had hours of fun watching our children taking part in many great activities such as the pony rides, the inflatable slide, the Eat a Doughnut on a String and many more. We also enjoyed the incredible tea and scones corner, full of tasty home baked cakes, and the delicious home made Pimms. It was truly a wonderful day and we are very proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to this event. We would also like to thank all the parents involved in organising such a great school fair!

London French Rugby Club
Lurot Brand is very proud to sponsor the London French Rugby Club! Antoine Lurot, our Chairman, is also Chairman of the Club and was one of the founding members in 1959.
Lurot Brand contribute towards the rugby pitches, the equipment and merchandise (polo shirts, cap etc) by giving back to the club 10% of all the fees earned thanks to members of the club buying, selling or renting through us.
We also support the club by helping them with certain elements of their organisation, development and promotion.
The London French Rugby Club currently consists of two teams that have both played at championship level this year and are positioned 4th and 2nd in their respective leagues.
The teams play every Saturday and the club is always looking for new members (French or not, it only matters that you love rugby!) and all necessary information can be found on the website:

Cleveland Square Bulb Planting
In October last year, Lurot Brand was very pleased to sponsor Cleveland Square’s Bulb Planting party. The residents, with the help of members of Lurot Brand, planted over three thousand bulbs around the garden! This spring the bulbs have come to life and we are proud to share the amazing results with you. (view photos, link below)
'A breathtaking display! Over and over again, residents and even passers by comment on how wonderful the bulbs look. The garden has completely re-invented itself in the last few days and now huge allium christophii dominate with poppies and foxgloves.' From Cleveland Square’s gardeners

HAMPDEN GURNEY SUMMER FAIR 2011
For the second year running, we are very proud to have supported the Hampden Gurney Summer Fair on Saturday 21st May. We did this by helping with the promotion of the event and by sponsoring the GO KART stall!
The school was founded by The Reverend John Hampden Gurney and was built in Hampden Gurney Street in 1863 and transferred to the present site in Nutford Place in 1967. The fair is organized by the PTA, which plays a vital role for the school and brings parents, teachers and pupils together in the joint cause of making the school an even better place.
This year’s fair saw a great turnout! We were lucky enough to join the fun and had a great time with our own children who got to drive the Go-Karts, paint plates, jump on the bouncy assault course and eat delicious hot dogs. During the brief respites, the adults were to be found drinking a very refreshing Pimms under the beautiful sunshine on the roof terrace.
Once again, our team put their competitive spirit to the test with an intense race on the giant 6 lane Grand Prix Scalextric. My youngest son, Milo (aged 6), not only won the race but had the second fastest time of the day and was very proud to show off his medal and especially happy to say that he had beaten his father!!
We would all like to thank the parents/PTA and especially Helen Wilson of the Victoria Pub, who is one of the many dedicated parents who made this fair a great success and for giving us the opportunity to help our community!
Peggy Lurot
TESTIMONIAL
"On behalf of everyone connected with Hampden Gurney School, I am just writing to thank you for the time and energy you put in to support our summer fair on Saturday afternoon. It is great to have a local company in school, helping with such a wonderful event. The afternoon was a great success again this year, with the money raised helping to fund activities and equipment for pupils that they otherwise would not have. Your help and support is very much appreciated by everyone connected to the school: parents, staff and pupils." Evelyn Chua (Head Teacher)
